The University Counseling Center (UCC) is sensitive to the unique challenges of graduate and professional students at Notre Dame in contrast with the experience of our undergraduate students. Although the graduate student body is more diverse across many identities, graduate student life can be more insular as students often attend classes or conduct research exclusively with a cohort of students in a given program that can limit interactions with the broader community and potentially impact an individual student’s sense of belonging. Graduate students also commonly manage many competing responsibilities as students, teaching assistants, researchers, and professionals-in-training while balancing more complex life tasks and roles.
The UCC offers support and process counseling groups for graduate and professional students interested in connecting with other students, finding and creating a sense of community, supporting one another, and navigating post-baccalaureate challenges.
Graduate Student Life
The Graduate Student Life office offers an array of resources to support students and maximize their quality of life at Notre Dame, from the Graduate Student Lounge in the Duncan Student Center to programs and events designed to help students thrive – both on and off campus. A new program, Graduate Student Resilience Alliance at ND (GRAND) is also coordinated through this office.
Family Resource Center
The Notre Dame Family Resource Center (FRC) provides support services to married, parenting, and/or pregnant students to ensure all families thrive at Notre Dame. Through year-round educational and social programming, the FRC is dedicated to building community for Notre Dame’s married, parenting, and/or pregnant students and their families and to working with established partners throughout the University to connect these students with resources to enhance their intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual formation.
