Students of Color
To our Students of Color,
You are welcome here at the UCC.
We want to know you, hear you, support you, affirm you, and offer our services and areas of expertise to you.
The staff at the University Counseling Center (UCC) seek to provide a safe environment where you are safe, comfortable and heard in our offices. We want to acknowledge that as a person of color, you often feel unsafe or unheard, and the Notre Dame community is no exception to this. We also recognize that the field of psychology as a whole is rooted in Western and Eurocentric philosophies and science, and counseling may not be common or embraced in different cultures and communities. We acknowledge these realities and commit to providing culturally-informed services, working within and honoring your value system, and creating a safe environment for you to process your experiences and enhance your mental and emotional well-being.
In line with our commitment to being responsive to the needs of our students, the UCC will enhance programming for BIPOC. Continue to check our website and Instagram (@uccnd) for further updates and information.
If your experience at the UCC is not reflective of our commitment above, please contact the UCC Director, Dr. Christine Conway at cconway5@nd.edu.

As a result of the current climate of Covid-19, Asian and Asian-Americans are experiencing microaggressions, racism, xenophobia, and/or discrimination at an alarming level. For example, Stop AAPI Hate had almost 1900 incidents of anti-Asian discrimination reported over an 8 week period from March to May 2020 (source:http://www.asianpacificpolicyandplanningcouncil.org/wp-content/uploads/Press_Release_6_9_20.pdf ). The UCC strongly condemns racism, discrimination, and xenophobia in all forms, and we are committed to providing a safe space where your mental and emotional needs are cared for.
